Timeline

The primary objectives of this research study are as follows:

• To investigate the transformation of student values: This study seeks to analyze the longitudinal changes in students’ values throughout their university experience, particularly focusing on the development of pro-social and pro-environmental attitudes and behaviors over time.

• To examine the influence of mission-driven institutions: The research aims to determine whether enrollment in a mission-driven university exerts a measurable influence on students’ values, attitudes, and behaviors, with an emphasis on pro-social and pro-environmental orientations.

• To identify the academic and co-curricular determinants of value formation: This study endeavors to identify the specific academic courses and co-curricular activities that significantly shape students’ values and foster pro-social and pro-environmental consumption behaviors.

By addressing these objectives, the study aspires to contribute to a deeper understanding of how higher education institutions, particularly mission-driven universities, can more effectively promote values that encourage pro-social and pro-environmental behaviors among their student populations.

This investigation will employ the Schwartz  Theory of Human Values as its guiding theoretical framework.

2023 – Phase One: Initial Data Collection

The study will commence with the collection of baseline data, capturing the initial values, attitudes, and behaviors of students as they enter the university.

2025 – Phase Two: Intermediate Data Collection

During this phase, intermediate data will be gathered to assess changes in the participants’ values and behaviors midway through their university experience.

2027 – Phase Three: Graduation Data Collection

This phase involves collecting data from participants at the time of their graduation to evaluate the cumulative impact of their university education on their values, attitudes, and behaviors.

2030 – Phase Four: Post-Graduation Data Collection

The final phase will involve post-graduation data collection to analyze how students’ values and behaviors have evolved in the years following their university education, providing insights into the long-term impact of the institution.
